ARTS/EXCEL
2009-2010
Arts/EXCEL is a cooperative program among all 20 Trumbull
County schools and TCESC that provides students with an opportunity to
develop their academic and artistic talents in the disciplines of art,
dance, drama, vocal and instrumental music. Students spend the year
interacting with instructors who are professional visual artists, dancers,
dramatists, vocalists and instrumentalists.

Explore 2009-2010
Arts Explore provides students with an opportunity
to become more knowledgeable about the arts and helps them to identify and
expand their interests and abilities. Students spend three days during the
year in a concentrated visual arts, music and drama/theatre programs.
The program will be held on either

Spring Program

The Spring Arts Program
will be held at the Art Gallery at the Eastwood Mall. This arts show
showcases poetry, sculpture, ceramics, prints, drawings and paintings
created by students. Students
win scholarships and gift certificates for art supplies.

Challenge
24
Challenge
24 is a mathematics game in which competitors use multiplication,
addition, subtraction and division in various combinations to manipulate
four numbers on a card to equal 24. TCESC and the Warren
Tribune Chronicle holds their annual Challenge 24 Tournament in the
Fall.

Civic
Day
TCESC
conducts Civic Day during which approximately 100 high school students
from 20 high schools shadow community leaders throughout the county
to learn about various jobs and responsibilities.

Spelling Bee
TCESC’s annual
spelling bee is held at Champion High School. Students representing
20 school districts participate in this contest, which is co-sponsored by
the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber. This Spelling Bee provides
students with the opportunity to prepare for the annual spelling contests
sponsored by the Warren Tribune
Chronicle and the Youngstown
Vindicator.

Equations
is a comprehensive mathematics game that combines problem-solving
interaction with strategy, bluffing and intrigue. The game includes
addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponentiation, root
operation, logarithms, fractions, decimals, percents, variables, algebra,
functions and more.

Enrichment Program
Approximately
560 students participate in TCESC’s Saturday Enrichment Program each
year. The program offers specialized courses for recommended students in
grades 2-6. Course offerings included: French or Spanish; Spanish
cultural awareness classes; Creative Writing, Ancient Cultures/Ancient
Art; Drawing/Watercolor; Creative Dramatics; Cooking for Kids; Mathmagic;
Typing/Keyboarding; Espanol Hoy; Microcomputers; and The Mysteries
of Science.

Trumbull County Educational Service
Center operates Trumbull Arts Academy, Arts/EXCEL and Arts/EXPLORE.
This summer, TCESC is offering a Summer Arts/Camp with activities and
instruction in music, drama, visual arts and dance. The camp is for
students entering the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. A total of 100
students will be accepted. June
